The pool

The pool has a volume of 40 m3, and the water temperature is 20 °C. How much water at 100 °C should we pour into the pool to increase the water temperature by 5 °C?

Correct answer:

x =  2.6667 m3

Step-by-step explanation:

40·20+x·100 = (20+5)·(40+x)

75x = 200

x = 200/75 = 2.66666667

x = 8/3 ≈ 2.666667
