Car overtaking

A passenger car travels at a speed of 30 m/s, and before it travels freight truck that drives at a constant speed of 10 m/s. Within 30 meters of the truck, the driver of the car finds out that the truck can not overtake. That's why it starts braking with an acceleration of 5 m/s. Will cars collide? If so, how big were the car's speeds at the collision?

Correct answer:

v22 =  12.6795 m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

v1=10 m/s v2=30 m/s  s=30 m a=5 m/s2  v=v2v1=3010=20 m/s   s = 21 a t2  t=2 s/a=2 30/5=2 3 s3.4641 s  v22=v2a t=305 3.464112.6795 m/s v22 > v1
