Milk

There were 22 liters of milk in three containers. There were 6 liters more in the first container than in the second. After pouring 5 liters from the first container into the third container, the same quantity of milk is in the second and third containers. How many liters of milk were originally in the first container?

Correct answer:

a =  13 l

Step-by-step explanation:

a+b+c=22
a = 6+b
b = c+5

a+b+c = 22
a-b = 6
b-c = 5

Row 2 - Row 1 → Row 2
a+b+c = 22
-2b-c = -16
b-c = 5

Row 3 - 1/-2 · Row 2 → Row 3
a+b+c = 22
-2b-c = -16
-1.5c = -3

c = -3/-1.5 = 2
b = -16+c/-2 = -16+2/-2 = 7
a = 22-b-c = 22-7-2 = 13

a = 13
b = 7
c = 2
