Quarantine cupcakes

Mr. Honse was baking quarantine cupcakes. Mrs. Carr made twice as many as Mr. Honse. Ms. Sanchez made 12 cupcakes, more than Mr. Honse. If they put all their cupcakes together (which they can't because. of quarantine!), they would have 108 cupcakes. How many cupcakes did each Math teacher make?

Correct answer:

C =  48
H =  24
S =  36

Step-by-step explanation:

C=2·H
S = 12+H
C+H+S = 108

C-2H = 0
H-S = -12
C+H+S = 108

Row 3 - Row 1 → Row 3
C-2H = 0
H-S = -12
3H+S = 108

Pivot: Row 2 ↔ Row 3
C-2H = 0
3H+S = 108
H-S = -12

Row 3 - 1/3 · Row 2 → Row 3
C-2H = 0
3H+S = 108
-1.333S = -48

S = -48/-1.33333333 = 36
H = 108-S/3 = 108-36/3 = 24
C = 0+2H = 0+2 · 24 = 48

C = 48
H = 24
S = 36

Our linear equations calculator calculates it.
