Sheep and cows

There are only sheep and cows on the farm. Sheep are eight more than cows. The number of cows is half the number of sheep. How many animals live on the farm?

Correct answer:

x =  24

Step-by-step explanation:

a=8+b b=a/2  a = 8 + b a = 8 + a/2 2a = 16 + a 2aa = 16  a=16  b=a/2=16/2=8  x=a+b=16+8=24

is it 24

Michael
If sheep are 8 more than cows and the number of cows is half the number of sheep then there are 8 cows and 16 sheep. 8+16 is 24 animals total.
