# Garden

Rectangular garden has a length 99 m and width 84 m. Calculate how many m2 will decrease its area if land by ornamental fence with width 30 cm.

Result

S =  109.44 m2

#### Solution:

$a=99 \ \text{m} \ \\ b=84 \ \text{m} \ \\ h=30 \ cm \rightarrow m=30 / 100 \ m=0.3 \ m \ \\ \ \\ S_{1}=a \cdot \ b=99 \cdot \ 84=8316 \ \text{m}^2 \ \\ S_{2}=(a-2 \cdot \ h) \cdot \ (b-2 \cdot \ h)=(99-2 \cdot \ 0.3) \cdot \ (84-2 \cdot \ 0.3)=8206.56 \ \text{m}^2 \ \\ \ \\ S=S_{1}-S_{2}=8316-8206.56=\dfrac{ 2736 }{ 25 }=109.44 \ \text{m}^2$
