Mathematics is the science of numbers and counting. The original numbers that began to be counted were natural numbers - one, two, three, and so on. To write numbers, we use the digits 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. We use 10 digits in the decimal system. We know different sets of numbers - whole numbers, real numbers, complex numbers.
