How do we solve fractions step by step?

Unary minus: -3/5 = -3/5
Subtract: the result of step No. 1 - (-1/4) = -3/5 - (-1/4) = -3/5 - -1/4 = -3 · 4/5 · 4 - (-1) · 5/4 · 5 = -12/20 - (-5/20) = -12 - (-5)/20 = -7/20
