How do we solve fractions step by step?

Multiply: 8 · 2/3 = 8 · 2/1 · 3 = 16/3
The first operand is an integer. It is equivalent to a fraction 8/1. Multiply both numerators and both denominators. Then simplify the resulting fraction to its lowest terms GCD(16, 3) = 1. In the following intermediate step, the fraction cannot be simplified further by cancelling.
In other words, eight multiplied by two thirds equals sixteen thirds.

Rules for expressions with fractions:

Fractions - Use a forward slash to separate the numerator and denominator. For example, for five-hundredths, enter 5/100.
