The schoolyard

The schoolyard had the shape of a square with an 11m side. The yard has been enlarged by 75 m2 and has a square shape again. How many meters was each side of the yard enlarged?

Correct result:

x =  3 m

Solution:

a=11 m S1=a2=112=121 m2 S2=S1+75=121+75=196 m2  b=S2=196=14 m  x=ba=1411=3 m
