# A map

A map of size 60cm by 25cm is reduced in the ratio of 3:5, twice. What are the new dimensions?

Result

x =  21.6 cm
y =  9 cm

#### Solution:

$a=60 \ \text{cm} \ \\ b=25 \ \text{cm} \ \\ k=(3/5)^2=\dfrac{ 9 }{ 25 }=0.36 \ \\ x=a \cdot \ k=60 \cdot \ 0.36=\dfrac{ 108 }{ 5 }=21.6 \ \text{cm}$
$y=b \cdot \ k=25 \cdot \ 0.36=9 \ \text{cm}$
