Rectangle 45

The perimeter of a rectangle is 60cm. If the length of the rectangle is 20cm.

a)find the width
b)find the area.

Correct result:

w =  10 cm
S =  200 cm2

Solution:

p=60 cm l=20 cm  p=2(l+w) w=p/2l=60/220=10 cmp=60 \ \text{cm} \ \\ l=20 \ \text{cm} \ \\ \ \\ p=2(l+w) \ \\ w=p/2-l=60/2-20=10 \ \text{cm}
S=l w=20 10=200 cm2S=l \cdot \ w=20 \cdot \ 10=200 \ \text{cm}^2
