Tank 9

The tank with volume V is filled with one pump for three hours and by second pump for 5 hours. When both pumps will run simultaneously calculate:

a) how much of the total volume of the tank is filled in one hour
b) for how long is the tank full

Result

a =  0.53
b =  1.875 h

Solution:

1*(1/3+1/5) = a
b(1/3+1/5)=1

15a = 8
8b = 15

a = 815 ≈ 0.533333
b = 158 = 1.875

Calculated by our linear equations calculator.
