The rectangle

Determine the area of the rectangle where the length and width are in the ratio 5:2 and its length is 7.5 cm longer than its width. Determine also its length and its width.

Result

a =  12.5 cm
b =  5 cm
S =  62.5 cm2

Solution:

2a=5b
a = 7.5 + b

2a-5b = 0
a-b = 7.5

a = 25/2 = 12.5
b = 5

Calculated by our linear equations calculator.
