# Stand-by power

Determine the year-round consumption of appliances in stand-by mode. Stand-by mode is regime the unit continuously 24 hours consume a tiny amount of electricity. Typically are televisions, electric ovens, radios, computers, monitors, satellite receivers, wifi router, etc..

Calculate the year consumption of 19 stand-by power consumption of appliances with an average consumption 3.8 W each. What is the value of consumed electricity if 1 kWh = 0.17 €?

Result

W =  166 kWh
p =  108

#### Solution:

$W = \dfrac{ 19\cdot 3.8 \cdot 24\cdot 365}{ 1000} = 166 \ \text{kWh}$
$p = W \cdot 0.17 = 0.17 \cdot \dfrac{ 19\cdot 3.8 \cdot 24\cdot 365}{ 1000} = 108 \ \text{Eur}$
