Pythagorean 81883

Hello, I have a problem calculating the height on side z in the general triangle XYZ, where z=4 cm, x=1.5 cm, and y=3.7 cm. It was assigned in 8th grade when discussing the Pythagorean theorem. Thank you.

Correct answer:

v =  1.3875 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

z=4 cm x=1.5 cm y=3.7 cm  z>y>x  test: z2 = x2+y2  t1=z2=42=16 t2=x2+y2=1.52+3.72=50797=15.94  t1=t2  XZY = 90    S=2x y=21.5 3.7=40111=2.775 cm2 S = 2z v  v=z2 S=42 2.775=1.3875 cm
