Friends' meeting

Friends Jenda and Martin live 13 kilometres apart. Jenda went to Martin by bicycle at an average speed of 18 km/h, and Martin at the same moment set out to meet him on a scooter. Half an hour after setting off, they met.
a) Calculate in kilometres per hour what average speed Martin was going on the scooter.
b) Determine in kilometres what distance Martin covered before he met Jenda.

Final Answer:

v2 =  8 km/h
s2 =  4 km

Step-by-step explanation:

s=13 km v1=18 km/h t=1/2=21=0.5 h  v= v1+v2 s = v t = (v1+v2) t  v2=s/tv1=13/0.518=8 km/h
s2=v2 t=8 0.5=4 km
