# Proportion 3

For every 8 mango trees in the orchard, there are 4 star apple trees. If there are 1320 trees, how many trees of each kind are there?

Result

m =  880
a =  440

#### Solution:

$t=m+a \ \\ m:a=8:4 \ \\ \ \\ t=1320 \ \\ \ \\ m=t \cdot \ \dfrac{ 8 }{ 8+4 }=1320 \cdot \ \dfrac{ 8 }{ 8+4 }=880$
$a=t \cdot \ \dfrac{ 4 }{ 8+4 }=1320 \cdot \ \dfrac{ 4 }{ 8+4 }=440$
