# Medians in triangle

Median of isosceles triangle has a length 3 cm. Determine the length of its sides if its perimeter is 16 cm.

Result

a =  5 cm
b =  5 cm
c =  6 cm

#### Solution:

$a=(16-2 \cdot \ 3)/2=5 \ \text{cm}$
$b=(16-2 \cdot \ 3)/2=5 \ \text{cm}$
$c = 2\cdot 3 = 6 \ \text{cm} \ \\ \ \\ a+b +c = 16 \ \\ a+b = 10 \ \\ a=b = 10/2 = 5$
