Horse carriage

Hlušice and Jarošov are 10 km apart. A horse-drawn carriage leaves Hlušice for Jarošov at a speed of 5 km/h, and at the same time a traveller leaves Jarošov for Hlušice at a speed of 3 km/h. At the moment the carriage departs, a fly starts from the horse's nose at a speed of 9 km/h, flying to the traveller's nose and back repeatedly until the horse and traveller meet. How many km does the fly travel in total?

Final Answer:

x =  11.25 km

Step-by-step explanation:

s=10 km v1=5 km/h v2=3 km/h v3=9 km/h  t=s/(v1+v2)=10/(5+3)=45=1.25 h  x=v3 t=9 1.25=445 km=11.25 km
