Cakes on plates

Mother arranged cakes on two plates. On both there was the same number of cakes. Jarda ate 5 cakes from the first plate and then took 3 more from the second plate. Emilka then from the plate with the greater number of cakes took a third of the cakes and put them in a box. In the box she took home altogether 5 cakes.
1. How many cakes in total were on both plates?
2. How many cakes remained on the second plate?

Final Answer:

n =  34
b3 =  14

Step-by-step explanation:

a1=b1=x a2 = a15 a3 = a15+3 = x2; b3 = x3 a3 > b3  5=(x2)/3  x=17  n=2 x=2 17=34  17;17 12;17 15;14 10;14
b3=x3=173=14
