# Algebra - math word problems

1. Two rulers
We have two rulers. Scale interval on first rulers are a spaced 1 cm and on second spaced 15 mm. Rulers are attached to each other so that they match initial divider commas. What next dividers commas coincide? Find at least three cases.
2. The rectangle
Determine the area of the rectangle where the length and width are in the ratio 5:2 and its length is 7.5 cm longer than its width. Determine also its length and its width.
3. Sides ratio
Calculate the circumference of a triangle with area 84 cm2 if a:b:c = 10:17:21
4. Unknown amount of money
Damian and Denis split an unknown amount in the ratio of 5:4 . Damian got six euros more than Denis. Calculate an unknown amount. Determine how much money got Damian and how Denis.
5. Grass
Peter and Stano lawn grass for 3 hours 12 minutes. How long would it take to Peter if Stano lawn grass himself for 384 minutes.
6. Table
The circumference of the rectangle table is 420 cm. Length to width ratio is 5:2 . Calculate table dimensions and dimensions reduced in the ratio 3:5
7. Vegan shop
To the shops brought together 23.2 kg of goods, fruits, vegetables and nuts. fruit was 4.7 kg more than vegetables, nuts was 1.5 kg less than the fruit. Determine the amount of fruits, vegetables and nuts.
8. Belgium vs Italy
Belgium played a match with Italy and Belgium win by 2 goals. The match fell a total 6 goals. Determine the number of goals scored by Belgium and by Italy.
9. Dividing money
Imrich, Daniel and Dezider shared an unknown amount in the ratio 1:2:4, where Dezider received 750 euros more than Imrich and Daniel got half as much as Dezider. Determine an unknown amount of money and determine the amounth that got Imrich, Daniel and D
10. Painting rooms
If Dano paint three hours daily given work he complete in 7.5 days. How many hours a day would have to work to finish the job 1.5 days earlier?

Milada said, I am thinking of a number such that I evaluate expression x1/3, the value of the expression would be 5. Which number Milada thinking?
12. Quotient
Determine the quotient and the second member of the geometric progression where a3=10, a1+a2=-1,6 a1-a2=2,4.
13. Threesome
Dana, Dalibor and Michael have a combined 57 years. Dana is five years older than Dalibor, but Dana is five years younger than Michael. Determine how old is Dana, Dalibor and Michael.
14. Elimination method
Solve system of linear equations by elimination method: 5/2x + 3/5y= 4/15 1/2x + 2/5y= 2/15
15. Determine AP
Determine the difference of the arithmetic progression if a3 = 7, and a4 + a5 = 71
16. Sale off
Product cost 95 euros before sale off. After sale off cost 74 euros and 10 cents. About what percentage of produt became cheaper?
17. Unknown number 4
I think number. When I divided its square root by its 1/9, I get a number 1. What number am I thinking?
18. Coins
Denis and Zdeno together have 97 coins. If Denis had 4 coins less than he has now, the number of the coins would be in the ratio 14: 17. Determine the number of coins owned by Denis and Zdeno.
