# Cuboid box

How many m2 paper is needed for the sticking cuboid box of dimensions 50 cm, 40 cm and 30 cm? To the folds add one-tenth the area.

Result

x =  1.034 m2

#### Solution:

$q=1 + 1/10=\dfrac{ 11 }{ 10 }=1.1 \ \\ a=50 \ cm \rightarrow m=50 / 100 \ m=0.5 \ m \ \\ b=40 \ cm \rightarrow m=40 / 100 \ m=0.4 \ m \ \\ c=30 \ cm \rightarrow m=30 / 100 \ m=0.3 \ m \ \\ \ \\ S=2 \cdot \ (a \cdot \ b+b \cdot \ c+c \cdot \ a)=2 \cdot \ (0.5 \cdot \ 0.4+0.4 \cdot \ 0.3+0.3 \cdot \ 0.5)=\dfrac{ 47 }{ 50 }=0.94 \ \text{m}^2 \ \\ \ \\ x=q \cdot \ S=1.1 \cdot \ 0.94=\dfrac{ 517 }{ 500 }=1.034 \ \text{m}^2$
