Distance between two cities

Car went from A to B 4h. On the way back, the car was up 15km / h faster. The return trip took 48 minutes. Shorter than the way there. Find the distance of the cities A and B.

Correct answer:

x =  240 km

Step-by-step explanation:

x = 4 v
x = (v+15)(4-48/60)

x = 4·v
x = (v+15)·(4-48/60)

4v-x = 0
192v-60x = -2880

Pivot: Row 1 ↔ Row 2
192v-60x = -2880
4v-x = 0

Row 2 - 4/192 · Row 1 → Row 2
192v-60x = -2880
0.25x = 60

x = 60/0.25 = 240
v = -2880+60x/192 = -2880+60 · 240/192 = 60

v = 60
x = 240
